Founded by Sydney based actor-come-producer, Andrew Cutcliffe, Goose Bridle was born out of a desire to tell stories that were impactful, civilising and spoke to the soul of an audience.
—————
My grandfather Ted lived his life with honour and by example - a deep focus on reconciliation, kindness, humility and forgiveness. But he was also armed with the driest of wits and an uncanny ability to carry a story and hold a room when he wanted to.
When Edward “Ted” Cutcliffe joined the 6ft Light Horse at Forbes in country NSW, he told his mother not to worry, “I’ll be back for harvest”. 7 years later and 5 more wheat crops were to be sown and harvested before he was to return home.
As a child I was always enamoured by his turn of phrase, two sayings in particular stand out today, “fit as a fiddle” and “whim-wham for a goose’s bridle”; the former being a constant reminder of his indefatigable humility and the latter a keen insight into his deadpan humour.
Now that I’m ‘all grown up’, I try to imbue my approach to story telling, be it on stage, on the page, in front of or behind the camera with the same essence my Pop lived his life… Humour, humility and truth.
